July/August 2018 | Utility Contractor 13 PEOPLE American Augers/Trencor Announces Smith as Director of Sales and Marketing American Augers/ Trencor announced that Joe Smith Jr. has accepted the position of Director of Sales and Marketing effective June 1, 2018. In his new role, Smith will be a member of the American Augers/Trencor leadership team and will be responsible for leading the sales team in alignment with the company's strategic objectives. Smith has been a valued employee of The Charles Machine Works for 25 years. He began his career in manufacturing, spent some time in accounting and has since then held multiple roles in sales. For the past seven years, Smith has been leading the Ditch Witch International Sales Team and the European branch in Barcelona, Spain, supporting dealers in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Each of Smith's positions throughout his tenure has strengthened his knowledge of the company and allowed him to develop and maintain positive relationships across the globe with those closest to the underground construction market. American Augers/Trencor was acquired by The Charles Machine Works in November 2012. Hobas Promotes Simonson To Division Manager South Hobas Pipe USA, manufacturer of centrifugally cast fiberglass reinforced polymer mortar pipe, recently announced the promotion of John Simonson to the role of Division Manager South. Simonson will have the primary responsibility of overseeing the sales team's efforts in the Southern market of the United States. "John has played a key role in expanding the use of HOBAS pipe in Northern Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. We are excited to promote him into this important position," stated Martin Dana, Vice President of Sales for Hobas Pipe USA. Simonson initially joined the company in 2003 as Area Sales Manager – North Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas and quickly excelled to one of the top producers. His technical expertise and ability to develop key relationships are important to his selection in this new role. Takeuchi Announces Granger as New Director of Dealer Sales Takeuchi-US, an innovative global leader in compact equipment, has introduced Todd Granger as director of dealer sales, effective immediately. Based out of Takeuchi-US headquarters in Pendergrass, Georgia, Granger will be responsible for all sales activity through the company's North American dealer sales channel. Granger brings over 10 years of rental and construction industry experience to this position, including prior employment with Takeuchi as a regional business manager. The move comes after former director of dealer sales, Kim Robinson, was appointed to a newly created position at Takeuchi as director of dealer development. Most recently, Granger served as the vice president at APT, an Atlas Copco company, where he oversaw sales, marketing and customer service functions. He has a Business Administration degree from the University of North Georgia.
